When the leaderfeels they have self-madely motivated their followers to be both very confidentand competent, and that the followers are found and have the duty tolead themselves to their goal, then they know that at that point, the followersare ready to accept some leading themselves.Once the followers are ready for some leadership of their own, the nextproblem at hand becomes how to go about empowering them with the leadershipresp onsibilities. Needless to say, the leader cannot just now step away and allowthe responsibility to dump onto the followers sure as shooting if that happened, theywould quickly lose confidence and possibly competence too. Instead, theleadership and responsibility of the followers should be increased gradually asthey are steadily empowered, and at a rate that depends on how well the newlygained leadership is handled.At all times though, the leader must be hustling to guide or evenrealign the direction the newly item-by-item followers take. The leader mustalso realize the risk of also-ran in the complete empowerment of his or herfollowers, as starting over completely is hardly possible.
